Halloween Event!

Northern Theatre are looking for street dance students! We would like to stage a dark street dance in our Halloween show, and we would like as many students to take part as possible.
The rehearsals will be on a Wednesday night from 6.30 to 7.30pm
The cost will be Ł1 on the first rehearsal and Ł3 on subsequent rehearsals. To join call Reception on 01482 218006

One of Northern Theatre’s most promising dance students, Conor Walmsley, was offered a place on a summer school in Italy near the city of Bologna, where he had the opportunity to further develop his skills with professional tutors. Conor already attends the York Scholars class in York. This is a major success for Conor who has only been dancing for three years and is a just reward for his hard work and dedication to his dancing. Congatulations!

BTEC success

Once again Northern Theatre has had major successes in BTEC Performing Arts. In the recent Quality Assurance and External Verifier reports Northern students were praised for their talent and hard work. It was reported that ‘the pupils at this centre are extremely talented and performed with skill and professionalism throughout.’ Furthermore the school was congratulated for the ‘vast amount of evidence of feedback from assessor to candidate which is nurturing and constructive.’ The report concluded that ‘It is clear that the pupils at this centre are receiving an outstanding teaching and learning experience.’

BTEC for adults!

Building on this success, and as a result of enquiries from the general public, Northern Theatre has decided to offer a daytime course in BTEC Performing Arts specifically for adults who wished that they had had this opportunity when they were at school! It is proposed to run the course on one day per week and to provide toddler dance and theatre classes at the same time, enabling mums with young children to take part whilst their children were actively involved in the same building. This is an exciting new venture which Northern are hoping will provide an opportunity for members of their adult company to attain a qualification whilst continuing to enjoy their dramatic activities. Any adult who would be interested in this should email us detailing which would be their preferred day to run the course. The day will be set according to the wishes of the majority.
